LOCATION: Chiapas, México
MASTERED TECHNIQUES: Backstrap loom
MAKERS OF: Juxta
Choy Spolavil is a cooperative that joined NGOimpacto eight years ago. Inspired by older women, the younger generations were interested in reviving traditional weaving practices. A group that is constantly innovating and optimising the sale of their products. They have also exchanged experiences of technical processes with colleagues from other communities, which further enriched their work.
“Juxta is a collective opportunity for us, women from Santiago el Pinar, to empower and strengthen us, while sharing our work to the world.”
– Juana López, group leader and artisan
